Professor Jongyoon Han from MIT will give a lecture titled Micro-Nanofluidic Sample Preparation for Molecular and Cellular Diagnostics in the School of Mechatronics Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology invited by Profs. Hongyuan Jiang and Yukun Ren.

Professor Jongyoon Han is the principal investigator of Micro/Nanofluidic BioMEMS Group in the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at MIT. He received the B.S. degree in the department of Physics of Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 1992. He received the M.S. degree in Physics from the same department in 1994. He received his Ph.D. from the school of Applied and Engineering Physics, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 2001. Before joining MIT in July 2002, he was a research scientist at Sandia National Laboratories, Livermore, CA. The Micro/Nanofluidic BioMEMS group's research is focused at developing new tools and technologies for biomolecule separation and analysis using advanced microfluidics and nanofluidics. Toward the eventual goal of all-integrated microfluidic biomolecule analysis systems, currently the lab is focusing on four different areas. First, the Micro/Nanofluidic BioMEMS group is interested in biomolecule separation using nanofluidic molecular sieve. Second, the group is studying biomolecule and cell concentration / sensing using ion selective membranes. Third, the lab is developing novel methods for small-scale seawater desalination. Finally, the group are interested in electrochemical modulation of nerve cells using ion selective membranes. He has published more than 150 papers, including Science,Nature Nanotech,PNAS, Review of Modern Physics,Physical Review Lettersand so on.
